The First people to inhabit Polynesia came in waves migrating from south east Asia initially to a few Islands in the South Pacific such as Samoa and Tonga. From these Islands they built colonies and eventually spread to live in the other inhabitable Islands of the Pacific. They were united by similarities in language, custom and of course Art and use of tools.

Lapita pottery, artwork and motifs form the basis of what we now know as Polynesian Art and Culture and samples of these archaic works are here revived in a brilliant Motif celebrating the common ancestry of all Pacific peoples.
